1. What age group do you take?
My program welcomes toddlers who are walking with stability to 4 years of age. This is because once a child is walking with stability, their hands are now free to choose work and engage with their environment.
2. Do I need Montessori experience?
Not at all. Whether you’re new or familiar with Montessori, my toddler program is designed to support and guide both parent and child. I have some books I can lend you and I will also hold workshops from time to time.
3. What are your hours of operation?
We are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm.
4. What is the Montessori approach?
I follow the Montessori philosophy, focusing on self-directed, hands-on learning, independence and respect for each child’s unique pace of development in a meticulously prepared, nurturing and calm environment.
5. What’s the daily schedule like?
A day at Tesorini Montessori offers:
After a warm welcome at the door, the Montessori work cycle begins! Don’t be put off by the term ‘work.’ Maria Montessori said ‘Play is the work of the child’ and she held such a deep respect for play in the development of young children that she referred to it as work. It is their important work. Children choose what to interact with and receive gentle guidance and collaboration through careful observation.
Outdoor and nature play; gardening, riding bikes, composting, exploration
Community lunch where we set the table, sit together and share a meal with lively discussion and connection.
Sleep or rest time. The environment is set up to be conducive to sleep, rest and relaxation, but nothing is forced upon a child.
6. How many children do you care for?
As a licensed family daycare, I maintain a small group setting of four children for individualised attention.
7. Do you provide meals or snacks?
I provide fresh ingredients for food preparation activities. Parents must pack a nutritious lunch for their child each day.
8. How do you communicate with parents?
I use Transparent Classroom, which is an app designed by Montessori educators for use in Montessori classrooms to update families, share information, insights and photos as well as regular check-ins.
9. Is toileting independence supported?
Absolutely! I support and guide toileting independence in partnership with each family, respecting each child’s readiness.
10. Does my child have to be vaccinated?
I believe all children deserve access to high-quality early education and care, so no, I am OK with children being unvaccinated and will leave that personal decision up to families. However, this can affect your access to the Child care Subsidy ( CCS ). Care
